Nevjerojatan!

Four trains and one bus ride after departing on our ZERO connection train out of Budapest we finally arrived in the Croatian capital of Zagreb! Although Zagreb wasn’t a focal stop for us (just passing through to pick up a rental car for our trip down the Croatian coastline), we couldn’t have been happier with our visit.

We stayed just outside Strossmayera Park which was only a stone’s throw from Zagreb’s historic and beautiful Old Town. If you ever find yourself in the area I recommend checking out the food, drinks & people watching at Otto & Frank.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

After almost running our rental car directly into a city tram, we departed Zagreb to make our way to Plitvice Lakes National Park. We had seen pictures of the park before arriving but never could have imagined just how incredible this place would be. Yes, the park isn’t a secret so you need to make it a priority to arrive early unless duckling along is your thing.

Just like Jurassic Park (minus the dinosaurs, sorry kids)

We didn’t want to leave but 8 miles of hiking in the nearly 90 degree heat was about all we could take. From here it was on to our next stop, Zadar and the crystal clear Adriatic Sea.

According to Wikipedia Zadar is the oldest continuously-inhabited Croatian city. The picture below is of the Zadar Cathedral with some of its original construction dating back to the 4th & 5th century. After a great dinner at 4 Kantuna (sitting on the only 4 corner block of Old Town which survived WWII), we also had an opportunity to log our first official sunset and it didn’t disappoint.

Not a bad day.

  2. OMG, what beautiful pictures! I was wondering what was behind you on an earlier picture, but these are incredible. I can’t believe that I have never even heard of them before, but I am sure you will teach me so much more. Enjoy!

  3. Looks awesome! Not to be a downer, but this seems an appropriate time to remind you of all the needless selfy deaths. Please keep a safe distance from the edge. And you should be wearing a helmet…all the time. 🤔
