Viva Prague!

On July 14th we kicked-off our extended stay in Prague, Czech Republic. We’ll be taking a few side trips here and there, but over the next 6 weeks we’re hoping to get to know the city, the people and with a little luck some of the language.

St. Vitus Cathedral within the Prague Castle.
St. George’s Basilica, founded in 920 it is the oldest surviving church building within Prague Castle.

Since there is so much to see and do in Prague, we decided to give the kids a project. They each were asked to research different sights around Prague and would then be responsible to lead us all on a tour…complete with navigating their way around the Prague subway.

Caden’s Tour:

View from Petrin Lookout Tower.
Venture across Charles Bridge, the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city’s Old Town.
Visiting the Prague Astronomical Clock (the 3rd oldest in the world and the oldest one still operating) and Old Town Square.
Finished the tour with a rooftop lunch at T-Anker (Kotva Center) with an amazing Tanker Burger and not a bad view.

Keira’s Tour:

Tour through the Jewish Museum complex with visits to the Franz Kafka statue, Old Jewish Cemetery and Klausen Synagogue.
Incredible Old Town Square.
Lunch at Pivovar U Supa, the oldest brewery restaurant in Prague.
The Powder Tower, one of the original city gates separating the Old Town from the New Town.

Afternoon cappuccino and sweets at Grand Cafe Orient in the historic House at the Black Madonna.

Finished the tour at the Estates Theatre, where Mozart conducted the world premiere of his opera Don Giovanni in 1787.

Prague is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and bustling cities we’ve ever visited. Over the next few weeks we’re hoping to find all of its best secrets…we’ll keep you posted.

Sbohem!

  3. Awesome tour Soquette Kids!!! We were in Prague in 1991. This was one of my most favorite cities. The people, food and history is rich. Gorgeous architecture. I remember being 5 month PG with Mariah and riding one of the escalators that scared the — you know what tee outta me — cause they went so fast. Enjoy every and thanks for bringing back some awesome memories!
