Although Munich isn’t that much larger of a city than Prague, it certainly feels as though it is. From busier streets to more active metro stations, the pace of life has quickened here. That’s not to say that Bavarians don’t know how to relax, because we also found ourselves at some amazing beer gardens over the past few days.
Despite the threat of rain, Caden & I ventured our way up to Fussen for what turned out to be an incredible hike up and around Neuschwanstein Castle…

Back in Munich we caught up with Tara & Keira at the Residenz, the former royal palace of the Wittelsmach monarchs of Bavaria.

For those of you who haven’t been to the Residnz and don’t consider yourself an avid museumgoer, trust me on this…it’s hard work. Tours at the Residenz are self guided and from what I understand there is a short option and an unfathomably-long option (yup, despite a sound argument from Keira we chose the latter). The good news, the mammoth museum complex was stunning…the really good news, we were only a few short blocks from the Hofbrauhaus!

It was here at the Munich Hofbrauhaus where Tara found her next goal in life…to one day become the proud owner of an official Hofbrauhaus Stein Locker.

One of the things that really surprised us about Munich was how amazingly bike-friendly the entire city was. From Marienplatz to Nymphenburg Palace and from Olympic Park to the massive English Garden, we were able to cover an exceptional amount of territory all from the comfort of well maintained and dedicated bike lanes.

We wrapped up our Tour de Munich with an incredible dinner at the Ratskeller…

…and then, this!
Even before our trip began we had been committed to tracking down some proper European football. So on July 31st we visited Allianz Arena in Munich to watch 2 back-to-back matches;
Tottenham vs. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich vs. Fenerbahce

Tottenham edged out Real Madrid 1-0 on an impressive Harry Kane goal and then Bayern Munich put on a 6-1 clinic versus Fenerbahce thanks to a Thomas Muller hat trick. Not a bad day.

See you in the Alps!

Stunning pictures of nature and man made artistry!!
I can so see you two starting your own version of Hofbrauhaus Stein Locker,
with a little physical therapy added, maybe?
Connecticut could really use that!
Love to all!

That hike!! 😍 It looks like such beautiful scenery and the castle is right out of a story book!!
I think Tara could most certainly open a beer garden but mom may be reaching if she thinks you are going to do it in CT😆
Hugs to you all!
Thanks for sharing your journey again.😘
